Dear Community,
Assalamu Alaikum,
As we approach the end of this blessed month, I want to take a moment to reflect with you on one of the teachings and some wisdom of the Quran. Alhamdulillah, we have been granted the privilege to immerse ourselves in the guidance of Allah’s holy book during this blessed time, allowing us to deepen our understanding and commitment to our faith.
One of the contemplations that consistently resonates with me is the interconnectedness of repentance and charity in the Quran. In His wisdom, Allah has linked these two acts, emphasizing His acceptance of repentance and His reception of charity in many verses of the Quran. This is a powerful reminder of these actions’ integral role in our spiritual journey toward purification, righteousness, and closeness to Allah.
Let us reflect on two specific verses that highlight this connection:
1. Allah says:
Do they not know that Allah accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that Allah is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful? (9:104)
2. Allah says:
And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do. (42:25)
These verses highlight that our repentance and generosity are avenues through which we can seek Allah’s forgiveness and acceptance. By demonstrating our willingness to give and support noble causes, we draw closer to Allah, affirm our trust in His promises, and exhibit compassion towards His creation.
As we strive to maximize the blessings of the last ten nights of Ramadan and seek Laylatul Qadr, let us not overlook the significance of repentance and charity as intertwined actions. I urge each of us to seize this opportunity, seek forgiveness earnestly, and give generously in the path of Allah.
Please consider Boston Islamic Seminary as one of the organizations you donate to on these sacred nights. I also encourage you to take a look at our latest annual report, which highlights our work and impact in the last year. I pray that this inspires you to support the noble mission of BIS.
May Allah grant us the privilege of witnessing Laylatul Qadr and shower His mercy upon us, guiding us to become better servants in His path.
Sincerely,

Become a leader who contributes to a better society!
