From October 16–18, 2026, students and faculty of Boston Islamic Seminary gathered in Dedham, Massachusetts, for the MIRL academic retreat, Redefining Success.
Faith, purpose, leadership, and the Hereafter
Grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah, the retreat explored success through spiritual, intellectual, and psychological perspectives. Faculty and guest sessions connected these ideas with character, stewardship, and service to communities.
Shared prayers, Qur’an recitation, student reflections, and discussions brought learning into daily practice. Communal meals, nature walks, and time together offered opportunities for students to connect beyond their online classrooms.
The retreat concluded with reflection on October 18 before the seminary’s graduation ceremony. We thank the student planning committee, faculty, guest speakers, staff, and volunteers who helped bring the community together.
