Biography

Dr. Amin Asfari is an Associate Professor and the Law Foundation of Saskatchewan Chair in Police Studies in the Department of Justice Studies at the University of Regina, Canada. His publications and teaching reflect his eclectic interests in hate crime & Islamophobia, policing and minoritized communities, as well as mass shootings and corrections.

His works have been published in venues such as the Journal of Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Criminology, Journal of Criminal Justice Education, Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, Tikkun, and Public Philosophy Journal among others. He is the editor of Civility, Nonviolent Resistance, and the New Struggle for Social Justice (Brill Publishers, 2019). His latest book is a coauthored volume titled Jews and Muslims in the White Supremacist Conspiratorial Imagination (Routledge, 2023).

He is currently working on a book titled Making Sense of Islamophobia: Institutions, Individuals, and Trickle Down Hatred by Lynne Rienner (under review). He has made numerous media appearances and believes strongly in public engagement.
