Iqra Fellowship

The Iqra Fellowship is a year-long initiative that seeks to empower students and young professionals with the traditional, philosophical, and spiritual foundations needed to navigate modern challenges and succeed as Muslims in America.

The fellowship aims to foster the growth of capable, understanding, and compassionate Muslim leaders to collectively improve ourselves, our mosque communities, and Islamic institutions.

Throughout the fellowship, we will examine various topics such as morality and ethics, as well as the intellectual traditions that have shaped the modern world. The fellowship strives to provide Muslims with a clear and convincing presentation of their own rich spiritual, intellectual, and philosophical traditions, as well as the resources they contain to address the existential issues and crises of our day.

By developing strong foundations in core concepts, fellows will learn to critically appraise information and approach the world through an Islamic lens. Our long-term goal is to equip fellows with the framework, tools, and community to faithfully serve as the generation of American Muslim leaders our local communities and Ummah needs.

We are looking for applicants who are interested in exploring and enriching the lenses through which they see the world, and are ready to grapple with complex and challenging questions, ideas, and knowledge. Our curriculum calls for active engagement, intellectual humility, sincerity, adab (proper conduct), and a dedication to challenge ourselves and each other. Our pedagogy calls upon students to engage with the text (Iqra), reflect upon the context (Tadabbur) and cultivate their agency (I’mal) in a spiritually rich environment.
