DESCRIPTION:
This course provides a comprehensive study of the six pillars of faith and early Islamic creedal texts. Students will examine the historical development and perspectives of mainstream theological schools, as well as those that were accused of being heretical. Through the course, students will begin to acquire the tools needed to analyze and respond to contemporary theological challenges in light of trends and prior debates in Islamic intellectual history.
