Students will learn to appreciate the gravity of this role and become familiar with resources on contemporary fatāwā. During class, students will also work with the instructor to analyze specific case studies (including financial, medical and techniological issues) and jointly formulate opinions for common issues that arise in Muslim communities today. At the end of the course, students will comprehend the process behind Islamic legal pronouncements and their unique dynamism in addressing contemporary fiqh-related issues.
“My experience with BIS has been transformative. I have had direct access to scholars and their knowledge, alhamdulillah in a way I have never experienced before. We’ve deeply explored the Muslim experience academically, challenging many of my previously held beliefs and narratives. I am forever grateful to BIS, the scholars and the organizers for this experience”.
