The workshop is designed to give an overview of the mandatory science of Tazkiyya from the Islamic perspective and its relation to Iman, Islam and Ihsan. At the end of the workshop, the participants will be able to understand the concept of Tazkiyya and implement the Islamic spiritual methodologies to uplift their souls and inspire others to be Godly creation of Allah.
It will have a theoretical/educational and practical portion, the theoretical portion is provided in a form of lecture and Q&A sessions by Visiting Scholar Imam Zaid Shakir.
The practical aspects will be addressed in the small group discussions and will be led by the instructor. The most pressing challenges and issues surrounding Tazkiyya for Muslims in the west will be discussed during this small group discussions. Excerpts from the recommended book will be read and discussed in the small groups.
Practical methods and solutions will be suggested to help those on the path of Tazkiyya to make progress InshaAllah.
This program is intended for every Muslim, including youth, leaders and potential leaders among the Muslim community. It is also available for non-Muslims who are interested in the Islamic perspective of spirituality.

2) Implement the basic requirement of successful TazkiyyaTun Nafs in the long term
3) Plan for the practical applications in their own path of spiritual development
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Imam Zaid Shakir,
Imam Zaid Shakir is one of three co-founders of Zaytuna College, serves on its Board of Trustees and has taught courses in Arabic, Islamic Spirituality, contemporary Muslim thought and Shafi’i fiqh. He speaks and writes on a wide range of topics and has become a voice of conscience for American Muslims as well as people of other faiths. He is regularly included as one of the Western world’s most influential Muslim scholars in The Muslim 500, an annual ranking edited by John Esposito and Ibrahim Kalin. He is also one of the signatories of “A Common Word Between Us and You,” an open letter by Islamic scholars to Christian leaders that calls for peace and mutual understanding. He holds an M.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University.
Dr. Ayman Ibrahim
Dr. Ayman Ibrahim (workshop instructor), is a research physician interested in Bioethics, personal/spiritual development, and intersection between science and religion. Dr. Ibrahim holds a degree in medicine, a postgraduate degree from Higher Institute of Islamic Studies, Egypt, and completed various studies in Management and Law. He will lead the practical aspects of the workshop, small group discussions, activities and exercises.
